Undertow by PJ Thomas

For her first book of poetry, PJ Thomas writes compelling, flavorful verses.  Her poems are magnetic and hook the reader from the very first line.  Her poetry has a warmth and glow to it which makes it a welcome read.  Her poems are a combination of prose, free verse and rhyme.  From the poem “Transportation”:  “Joni Mitchell says she’d like to skate away. / I’d travel by wings or wheels or even locomotion, / “C’mon, Baby, do the locomotion!” / Everyone twirling through psych wards / is doing it;”.  She unfolds each poem into a worthwhile whole, word by word.
