Di Saverio’s subtitle for his book is “an epic” and it is written as such.  The dedication (to Michell Fabris) is a work of love.  The poems are classical, letter style, or prose.  It’s reminiscent certainly of reading an epic poem.  It also brings to mind the famous Rilke’s “Letters to a Young Poet.”  From the poem “VIII. In the Skin of Three Patients”: “I. The Paralytic / The voice that through the iPhone orders false-flags, / orders half-masts, orders mourning through its / broadcasts, that raises questions why is always / silenced; and I’ve been blinded by phosphorus since.”
